Getting it running, start to finish.
Six steps from a downloaded file to a long list answered, including how to reach it from your phone.
- 1
Download and start it
One file, for Intel or ARM. There is nothing to install: start it and a tray icon appears by the clock.
- 2
Open the page
From the tray menu, or at http://localhost:8080 in a browser on that machine. This is where you start and stop it, and where the answers appear.
- 3
Find the address for your phone
Tray menu → About. It prints the address to type into a phone on the same Wi-Fi, under “On your phone” — the one starting 192.168 or 10. Everything on the page works from there too.
- 4
Take one capture
Press capture on the page. QNA reads what is on the screen now and answers it, which is the quickest way to see it working.
- 5
Run a scan over a long list
Start a scan, then scroll through the list once at a comfortable pace. Capture keeps up; the reading and answering happen afterwards, over the frames worth reading.
- 6
Come back to a sitting
Past sittings stay on the page. Reopen one to read it again, with each answer under the picture it came from.
Worth knowing
Things it does that you might miss.
A few of the parts people find after a week, which are worth finding on day one.
- It starts with Windows, if you want
- Leave it in the tray and it is there the next time you sit down.
- Drop a picture in instead
- A screenshot or a photograph can be dragged onto the page, for a question that is not on this screen.
- The capture is shown with the answer
- Every answer sits under the picture it was read from, so you can see what it actually looked at.
- Both Windows architectures run natively
- The ARM build is a real ARM build, so a Snapdragon machine runs it at full speed rather than through emulation.
